Educate Like Ants – Be Relentless

TL;DR:

  • Ants appear to roam anywhere and everywhere outside but when they come inside your home, their purpose becomes more evident.
  • Ants are strong and tenacious. Educators can learn by studying them and being more like them. They know their WHY. Do you? If you haven’t thought about your WHY in a while, it’s time to revisit and rediscover. It will guide your practice and remind you of your purpose and mission.
  • We need to be more like ants—RELENTLESS! We need to do what we can to support students wherever they are because that’s what they deserve.
  • Educate like ants with intense collaboration and teamwork. Reflect and work on being better so that you and your community can work harmoniously together just like ants.

The Gift of Care

TL;DR:

  • The practice of choosing One Word can be more effective than making New Year’s resolutions. One student chose the word CARE and he demonstrated it every day.
  • Begin to see kind and caring gestures for you as gifts of care because it deepens your gratitude and relationships.
  • Give the gift of care for others by not only thinking of them but taking action and showing you care. When someone is on your heart or mind, it’s for a reason. Reach out and tell them or check on them.
  • The gift of caring for yourself has grown to be a most talked about thing and so important for our well-being. Learn a variety of different ways below.

The Gift of Believing

TL;DR:

  • The imposter syndrome is real for many of us.
  • Give your gift of believing in others. You have the power to change lives.
  • When someone believes in you, this is such a gift to receive. While we should have the courage and not need others to believe in us first, the reality is that sometimes we don’t have enough courage UNTIL someone believes in us. It can be the spark that moves us along in our journey.
  • GIVE the gift of believing. Explicitly say, “I believe in you.” Students need to hear that their teacher believes in them. It’s in us to give. Tips on the gift of believing can be found below.

Believe in others until they believe in themselves. Then believe in them even more.
