The Art of Relationships

TL;DR:

  • There are many ways to establish and maintain relationships. These tips were previously shared on a Daily Drop In on August 17, 2021.
  • Tips: (1) See relationships as GIFTS. (2) GREET warmly and by name daily. (3) Show GRATITUDE. (4) Be GENUINE. Be you. (5) GO beyond by doing small things for others like offering help. (6) Make an INVESTMENT of time and effort into relationships. (7) Have a genuine INTEREST to learn more about others. (8) Be INTENTIONAL with every interaction to uplift others.
  • Challenge: When someone is placed in your heart or mind, reach out to tell them you’re thinking of them. Uplift them.

Educate Like Ants – Be Relentless

TL;DR:

  • Ants appear to roam anywhere and everywhere outside but when they come inside your home, their purpose becomes more evident.
  • Ants are strong and tenacious. Educators can learn by studying them and being more like them. They know their WHY. Do you? If you haven’t thought about your WHY in a while, it’s time to revisit and rediscover. It will guide your practice and remind you of your purpose and mission.
  • We need to be more like ants—RELENTLESS! We need to do what we can to support students wherever they are because that’s what they deserve.
  • Educate like ants with intense collaboration and teamwork. Reflect and work on being better so that you and your community can work harmoniously together just like ants.

Stop Boring Students at All Costs

On May 14, 2021, this book, compiled by Dr. Rick Jetter, became available to the world which took me over the moon! I had the greatest honour to write chapter 11: Stop Boring Students at All Costs.

In my chapter, I share small, simple ways a teacher can make lessons less unvaried, unstimulating, unoriginal, unimaginative, uneventful, and unexciting…ultimately, less boring. There’s an antidote offered for each!
